Detersivo_liquidoSometimes it happens that a new customer finds washing-up liquid, or even laundry detergent, a little too low-foaming; after first use, the customers acknowledges that the product is very effective despite low-foam…

First of all, a detergent is a mix of lots of ingredients; after having been put into the water, each one of them shows to be more or less foaming according to their chemical features, to their concentration, to the amount of soil (generally more the soil is, less the foam will form); some surfactants are traditionally high-foaming, other are not at all, even if they are very effective. Many manufacturers use foam “boosters” or “stabilizers”: they are not washing ingredients, they only… create a soft, persistent foam.

Bensos’ decision is to use mainly low-foaming ingredients and to exclude foam stabilizers. In fact, persistent foam is less than ecologic: the foam may be concerning for water treatment plants; in case of untreated waste water, foam may be harmful for fishes and other aquatic organisms because it prevents oxygen to flow through water surface.
