Tavolo_ristoranteUsing eco-friendly and non-toxic detergents in the workplace, particularly in tourist accomodation and communities, has the same reasons of household use, but it shows wider effects: first, conventional detergents often have a great impact on the environment; last but not least, many people per time are involved and exposed to their ingredients.

I&I detergents were historically created with the aim to clean efficiently as quickly as possible, helping users to save time to do something else. Environmental impact was – and is still – completely overlooked: detergents often show high percentage of non-biodegradable and highly toxic for aquatic organisms (as phosphorous compounds) ingredients. Non-biodegradable chemicals are not degraded even by active sludge treatment plants, but generally such plants are equipped with “filtering” devices that stop chemicals from being released in the environment; many tourist accomodation establishments are located in territories not even connected to wastewater treatment plants, so their effluents flow directly into the sea or into rivers.

The toxicity of ingredients is an important issue too: generally a lot of toxic chemicals and allergens are spread daily on tables and floors, with the consequence that both workers and customers are exposed to them.

Actually, effective detergents for professional and I&I can be realized in other ways too… Bensos’ products are highly biodegradable, do not contain neither long-term toxics nor allergens and are effective. Promoting a new culture of professional cleaning.
