Generally housework is simplified by using specially formulated products, either concentrated or ready-to-use: each ingredient features are investigated and tested to ensure the best cleaning with the least amount of effort.
Recently, mostly as a result of the mistrust of common detergents, some users started to self-handle natural detergents, trying to avoid synthetic substances and making home-made little chemicals reactions.
It should be noted that self-handlers often use log-term toxic chemicals, as ingredients within their products, for example essential oils (see this article) or coconut soap, sometimes self-making it from coconut oil (see this article). Self-handling in itself does not shelter from unhealthy substances, as natural ingredients are not all safe.
